Life Skills Curriculum

We believe education should prepare children not only for tests, but for life. That’s why Seneca Hill offers a comprehensive Life Skills Curriculum that runs from Grades 1 through 8, designed to help students become self-aware, capable, and community-minded individuals.
Each grade level includes interactive lessons and activities in:

  • Z Executive functioning & study habits
  • Z Conflict resolution & emotional regulation
  • Z Healthy living, nutrition & body awareness
  • Z Financial literacy & entrepreneurship
  • Z First aid, personal safety & online responsibility
  • Z Public speaking, teamwork & leadership

Students receive their own Life Skills Workbook, which they revisit and add to throughout the year—tracking personal goals, reflecting on growth, and capturing the practical knowledge they’ll carry with them into high school and beyond.

In today’s world, character matters as much as content. Our Life Skills program ensures Seneca Hill students are prepared to thrive not only in academics, but in relationships, choices, and everyday life.

Student Council & Leadership

Leadership isn’t a title — it’s a habit. At Seneca Hill, we believe every student should have a voice in shaping school life. Our Student Council is more than a planning committee — it’s a leadership incubator that helps students grow into confident, compassionate changemakers.

Beginning in the junior grades and growing in responsibility through to Grade 8, Student Council members:

  • Z Plan school-wide events and spirit days
  • Z Lead assemblies and fundraisers
  • Z Represent student perspectives at town halls
  • Z Collaborate with teachers and admin to improve school life
  • Z Practice decision-making, time management, and public speaking

Every event—from Terry Fox Day to Cultural Week to our special days—is student-driven, guided by mentorship, and designed to build belonging and school spirit. In the process, students develop skills in collaboration, initiative, and follow-through—essentials for life far beyond the classroom.

Leadership at Seneca Hill isn’t reserved for a select few. It’s an opportunity for every student to see themselves as part of something bigger, and to practice what it means to contribute with heart and purpose.
